Learning how to comfort and soothe ourselves seems like such a weird and silly topic. But, here’s the truth: the way most of us have been trained to comfort and soothe ourselves is by numbing the pain, avoiding the pain, or escaping the pain. The habits, patterns, and programs we create in our lives as a result of not knowing how to comfort and soothe ourselves in healthy ways create a massive amount of misery in our lives.
Alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, unhealthy relationships, overeating, unhealthy attachments to people/places/things, watching too much TV, inability to be alone, addictions to social media … are all ways our society teaches us to cope with the pain we feel inside, but none of these methods create true and lasting peace, true and lasting self-love, nor true and lasting happiness. But, learning how to comfort and soothe yourself can.

Learning how to comfort and soothe yourself in healthy ways is one of the most effective tools I used when I was trying to let go of my addictions to alcohol, cigarettes, TV, unhealthy attachments, and unhealthy relationships. It changed my life and still does to this day and I’m excited to share it with you.
