Dear Christina,
Why do some people have so much negative energy?
-Josh
Dear Josh,
Thank you for writing in! There are a lot of reasons a person might have a lot of negative energy. But, at the core of nearly every reason is because they likely also carry a lot of emotional pain and/or carry a lot of other people’s pain, and don’t know how to clear any of it.
You see, emotional pain is a result of emotional wounds. When we carry emotional pain, we also carry programming that was created as a result of the emotional wounds. The programming, when created out of fear or pain, is usually coded as a defense strategy, meaning it’s programming that was designed so that we never have to feel that same hurt again. It is our defense strategy that causes negative thoughts, negative behaviors, negative actions, and negative feelings. All of these contribute to negative energy.
Additionally, most people don’t know that our energy needs to be cleaned just as frequently as our physical bodies and our teeth! We brush our teeth at least two times a day to prevent cavities and gum disease. We shower at least one time per day to bring about good body hygiene, but no one ever talks about how important it is to keep our energy clean — and yet our energy is what dictates whether we feel light or heavy, happy or sad, positive or negative, connected or disconnected, loved or unloved.
One of the most important things I teach people is how to keep their energy clean. And I’m going to teach that to you here, hoping perhaps you’ll try it and share it with all the people in your life who struggle with negativity.
Even if you don’t struggle with negativity, keeping your energy clean is still a very important daily ritual. When I was still building my healthy boundaries, I used this technique to clear my energy 4-5 times per day. Now that I have strong and healthy emotional and energetic boundaries, I only do this at bedtime every night and as needed throughout the day. I use this technique more frequently during the day if there are big events/traumas going on in the world, or if I’m going through a personal growth spurt (which usually means a triggering event followed by feeling pain, which is followed by wisdom, healing and growth), or if I’m engaging with a lot people and taking more and more energy in that isn’t mine.
Either way, building in a practice of clearing your energy each day will be life-changing for you and anyone who dedicates the few minutes each day needed to do it.
The sad truth is that often, the negative energy we feel isn’t even ours. It’s someone else’s that we picked up and have been carrying as our own. When I learned this, I was in my early 30s and I was so devastated to know that I’d spent so much of my life hurting SO MUCH and so much of the hurt wasn’t even mine. AND WORSE YET was that there were tools I could have used all along to not feel that pain and to have lived a happier life. So, I’ll give you the tool I taught myself to use. There are likely thousands of different tools that other people use to do the same thing. If my General Energy Release tool doesn’t feel good for you to use, find one that does. Because I promise you, regularly clearing your energy can and will change your life for the better. And, believe me, I know that “clearing your energy” sounds a little cray-cray, but it’s real and it’s true. 🙂
Anyway, I hope this answer is helpful to you. If there’s a particular person or situation that you’d like to provide specifics on and get specific coaching on, write back in to me here and I’ll be happy to help. I’d also recommend you give this post a read because I talk a lot more about negativity and what types of patterns and actions bring it forth.
With love, gratitude, grit, and grace,
